چکیده
Phosphorus (P) plays an important role in eutrophication and algal adaptation to environmental stresses; therefore, a better understanding of the impact P is essential control cyanobacterial bloom. In this study, Microcystis aeruginosa treated with 5 h ambient irradiation culture medium different availabilities dissolved organic (DOP) matter (DOM) explore physiological responses. Compared photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), UV-A UV-B exerted oxidative stresses has inhibitive effects on growth photosynthesis M. aeruginosa. However, had strong capability, negative UV can be alleviated DOM addition DOP-rich medium. The waters mainly achieved through hydrolysis DOP metabolism inorganic (DIP), utilization behaviors might greatly affect capability. without DOM, great inactivation alkaline phosphatase (APase) after could result worse affinity for DOP, slower uptake lower cellular quota. Consequently, demand not satisfied processes, including decreasing UV-induced damages promoting self-repair. act as antioxidant significantly decrease APase UV-radiated by M.aeruginosa treatments promoted its adaptation, such enhanced production photosynthetic pigments, increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, recovery efficiency, etc. Overall, our findings indicate close relationship between typical cyanobacteria DIP-limited DOP-enriched natural waters.

Characterization of dissolved organic matter released from Microcystis aeruginosa.
The contribution of dissolved organic matter (DOM) released from phytoplankton (Microcystis aeruginosa) during cultivation and biodegradation was examined to clarify the causes of the organic pollution of Lake Biwa. Two peaks, peak 2 (retention time (RT) = 32 min) and peak 3 (RT = 35 min), were detected in the algal DOM released from Microcystis aeruginosa during cultivation and biodegradation ...

Interactions among multiple stressors generated by global change exert cumulative effects on ecosystems. In order to identify the long-term interactive effects of ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and increasing atmospheric nutrient inputs (P-inputs) on aggregate (growth rate, chlorophyll a and abundance) and emergent (evenness and diversity) algal community variables, a 2 5 factorial experiment [two...
متن کاملPlasticity of Total and Intracellular Phosphorus Quotas in Microcystis aeruginosa Cultures and Lake Erie Algal Assemblages
Blooms of the potentially toxic cyanobacterium Microcystis are common events globally, and as a result significant resources continue to be dedicated to monitoring and controlling these events. Recent studies have shown that a significant proportion of total cell-associated phosphorus (P) in marine phytoplankton can be surface adsorbed; as a result studies completed to date do not accurately re...

The production of microcystins (MC) from Microcystis aeruginosa UTEX 2388 was investigated in a P-limited continuous culture. MC (MC-LR, MC-RR, and MC-YR) from lyophilized M. aeruginosa were extracted with 5% acetic acid, purified by a Sep-Pak C(18) cartridge, and then analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography with a UV detector and Nucleosil C(18) reverse-phase column. The specific gr...
متن کاملDifferential utilization patterns of dissolved organic phosphorus compounds by heterotrophic bacteria in two mountain lakes
Although phosphorus limitation is common in freshwaters and bacteria are known to use dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP), little is known about how efficiently DOP compounds are taken up by individual bacterial taxa. Here, we assessed bacterial uptake of three model DOP substrates in two mountain lakes and examined whether DOP uptake followed concentration-dependent patterns. We determined bulk...
